Please Help Buddy as he has wokin up on the morning of Saturday 16/2007 and lost all mobility in his hind legs as he is now paralized I'm on a low income and can't afford the vet bills that I'm being told will be in the 1,000's of dollars, I have asked the Windsor / Essex Humane Society for help and the only suggestion they told me other then the bills is to have him put down, I can't do this again as I was told to do the same thing with Sheba my last fur baby because we couldn't afford the vet bill which was the purpose of starting this website in her honour but now she will be helping others, So Please Donate so that I'm able to bring Buddy in to the vets so that he can get the care he needs plus I may have to buy one of them Animal Wheel chair type thing so that he will be able to move around as he did before all this happened....

Update on Buddy

June 18, 2007

After endless hours of searching the internet and all the phone calls, I have finally found an organization that help people with a low income, and now Buddy is getting the care he needs.

Update on buddy
June 20, 2007

finally was able to take him to the vet and found out that he has some kind of degenerting disk and needs to go and have an opperation which is going to cost anywhere from $2500.00 to $5000.00 and travel 3 to 4 hours, I got approved for a medicard whith a $1000.00 limit with a co-signer, and the rest is going to be a loan from the medicard place, we'll be taking him up to guelph, ontario this friday and should be back withing seven days later.

Buddy and I would also like to thank
Dorothea Johns
for your donation as for every dollar that comes in will be strickly used for the Animal Rescue organization that I'm getting started here in Southern Ontario.

I have attached the invoice for this vet bill and the estimate for the opperation in order to show you all that I'm doing what I have been set out to do and that I'm going to continue to help others in need

I am applying for the 301 taxation forms as this area in Ontario needs an animal rescue organization that helps people with low income so that they will be able to have thier fur babies cared for and not being put down due to financial difficulties, I had to do this once before for Sheba as some of you might remember and again with buddy they gave me that option, but buddy has alot of energy and alot of determination to go on so theres nothing that I won't do to make him better or at least more comfortable but with what the vet has told me he has 90% to 95% recovery with this opperation, I have also made an order for a doggy wheel harness which should be made and sent here for Buddy within the next 2 weeks.

Buddy and I would also like to say Thank you for all your support and prayers, God Bless you all and all your fur babies

I am going to leave this link opened for you to make a small donation to help others with a low income get the help they need for their fur babies, I will be doing everything I can to get all the paper work and the government forms for this charity so that when another fur babie is in need of medical attention that mommy and daddy can't afford it due to finacial difficulties, every Dollar donated will be used strikly for these animals in need, every dollar counts to a happy and healthy fur babie So Please Donate

Update June 28, 2007

Still haven't been able to find the help as of yet,,,, Buddy's been adapting to his disability but I hate watching him drag his back legs all the time, my friend and I made a wheel chair for him and he fly's in it,,,he surprized me when I took him out to the sidewalk with it and I actually had to chase him down to catch him and bring him back lol, he's back to his old self again but it would be nice if I can just find the help I need for him to get the surgery he needs, did contact OSLF but they denied me as they think he doesn't need this surgery after me sending them a letter from the vet stating that he needs it and he has a 90% chance of recovery, but because they denied me I'm back at searching again.........

We decided to try out our craftsmanship and make a wheel chair for Buddy, made one out of wood and a few parts from my brother wheel chair he made for a kittin last yr, it worked pretty good, Buddy was rairing to go as soon has he was able to try it out.

due to it not really made good to last it started to get real loose and start falling apart, so a freind and I found metal peices that were the right legths we wanted with out all the cutting, but anyhow I got them cleaned up and made sure every peice was there to be welded, once that was done then freind welded them together, got a 2"wide army style belt and had them all mounted onto the frame. this week we'll be perfecting it better with smaller and lighter material, plus we have bigger and softer wheels for it, most likely be designing the harness parts better so they don't hurt his belly and make it more comfortable for him. below is a slide show of what I started with and what we designed so far, the newer one will be added latter when it gets made...

Update July 2, 2007

Well I did find the help that Buddy needs but was denied due to them thinking that he doesn't need the surgery after recieneing a letter from the vets stating that he needs this surgery, Now I'm at a loss, I find one they denie us find one here in canada and for some reason my emails have been blocked as to not being to send any more to find out if they recieved the first email, kinda wondering about the reputation of these animal rescue groups if they actually do help, I was told the other day that alot of these organizations exept the donations but is very hard to get the help you need.. But anyhow Buddy has been trying to use his back legs as he has been standing on at least one leg but hasn't been able to get it to walk yet, figured out a new doggie therapy lol all ya need it a nice juicy steak bone and he'll try to stand while trying to chew the bone. he's also trying to get over the little fence I put accross the gateway, again he uses is legs to push himself up and uses the front legs to pull himself up. hopefully if he keeps this up he might get some use back in his legs. I've been told to have him put down but when you see everything he does and tries, this is not a dog that is giving up to easilly. theres one thing I don't get really is that alot of people are fast and ready to put down an animal but yet when I ask them if it was their child and he lost his legs, would you put him down because he has no legs and needs to be in a wheel chair,, they all say no and that this is different, what makes an animals life different from a humans life, don't ya think that the animals must want to live just as much as we do?? animals are here to give us comfort and unconditional love, but are you apsolutly sure they were put here for us and not us put here for them, life could have been different and the animals could have easily be putting us down because we might get hurt and not be able to profide them with their needs. I kinda wish some people would wake up and see what our pets really do for us and realize that our pets need us to speek for them and do whats best for them and not run for the needle everytime one of them gets hurt enough.

Update 4th of July

Still haven't been able to find the help with Buddy's surgery..He's basically doing therapy of his own by trying to stand up, I gave him a steak bone the other day and he was actually standing on at least one leg so that he was able to chew on the bone. I put up a temperary fence accross the gate area so that he wouldn't be able to drag himself away, I have the boards going accross four high in which if he had full use of him back legs he would be gone over that fence for sure, the other day when I was bbq'ing he would try to pull himself up and over the boards in which I think is kinda working for him as it's making him use his back legs to push himself up. he has finnaly mastered the 4 boards in which I had to add 1 more to make it a bit higher, he's still trying to get over. ussually I would tell him how he's being bad for getting out of the yard and running away but with his condition I've been encouraging him to do so with me there watching just incase he makes it again. I call it doggy therapy as he has been trying alot now to be able to stand on all 4s. people keep telling me to put him down but when I sit there and watch what he does to regain the strength in his back legs, this is telling me that he needs the chance to recover on his own even without the surgery, this dog shows that he has alot more life in him that nothing is going to stop him from living his life to the fullest, this dog dowsn't show any signs that he's to be put down but shows us how much he wants to live.....

A very special lady has made a posting for Buddy on one of her sites, and if you haven't seen it yet. click on link

Well like I've been telling ya's,,I've been in the process of getting this animal rescue thing going with donations but as the days go by and the chances of recovery slides down due to not getting the surgery, we haven't been getting the donations as we hoped, but I won't give up and if we can't get the surgery he needs then at least we'll be able to help someone else that needs it and not only have more than one option as most vets give if ya can't afford it....

Update 13th of July

Well we're still trying to get the donations but I feel like my special buddy is gonna have to keep trying to do what he can to make himselfe better with his own therapy, He's been really trying on his own to stand, everytime he eats or gets a drink he stands up, keeps his weight on 1 leg but at least he's trying, I do everything for his as holding his tail has he runs up the stairs to go out side, as we come back in he pretty much makes me run really fast to where I sometime feel like I'm gonna ski down them as he pulls me, he's a little dog but has alot of strength in them little front legs of his, alot of times instead of him going to his dish, I'll go and grab it and bring it to him, sometimes I almost think he like the special attention that he getting now as it doesn't seem like he's going to his dish to eat, but if I bring it and take the food from his dish and hold it in my hands he'll eat it all, he's pretty much getting spoiled alot more but as I see it he deserves every bit of me spoiling him as he tries to get better on his own or at least till when we get the donations for his sergury, I take him for a walk every night with his wheel harness that we made for him and he loves it, but we can only go around just 1 block as he gets to tired to continue on the rest of the way back home, today I found I short walk way around the corner from us that I didn't know was there, it has lots of gras and the paved pathway is a short walk in a fair size circle, I almost hate walking him during the day as for some reason in this area people think I'm cruel for not putting him to sleep and to them they think he's suffering badly, these people tell me almost everyday and really makes me feel real bad inside but yet when I look down at Buddy and see how he's kinda progressing on his own and looks happy that he's still able to go for walks. He doesn't cry in pain or a even looks like he's in pain but then again he's on meds right now which must be helping him, he's doing the same things as he has always done like when he's on the couch and I sit at the end and put my legs up he starts barking at me as in "hey don't be touching me" but with that fun type bark, he's been like that all the time with me, He's very talkative with me, I just wish I could understand his language as I'm sure we'd be laughing with each other if he had that type of laughter, guess thats what the panting basically is as it makes it looks like a big smile on his face. I've noticed that he doesn't pant much even with this summer heat, but when he looks at me he starts to pant, same as when I go out and latter on come back home it's the same thing Buddy there with this big smile like yaaaa daddy's home and gets all excited, with everything that we do together and what not I sometimes feel kinda discouraged as I look at the donation link and nothing has changed in the amount that has been donated so far, but I won't give up as  this little guy is my best freind and I don't want to let him down by giving up. I had a big girl that got really sick and when they told me that I had to put her to sleep I was so heart broken that I broke down crying as she was just like a child of mine and I jsut couldn't watch them put her to sleep, I was glad that the girlfriend at that time sat with her and comforted her as she passed on, I just couldn't do it, and now that buddy is almost in kinda the same situation where the vet says I should have him put to sleep if I can't get this surgery for him, I know it will be very hard for me, I know it sounds kinda selfish but I see it as he has a chance still with my help and the meds to keep the pain away and everything that I'm trying to do to get the donations we need to make him the way he was, running around and playing and making me chase him down the street to bring him back home after getting out of the yard. Anyhow I'm gonna be bring him back to the vet next week to get a follow up on how he is now, and get more meds for him if the vet thinks he's still in pain, but I'm still not gonna put him to sleep because I beleive theres angels out there and they will help us get the funds we need, I just hope that it doesn't get to late for him and I end up with no choice, so now I'm begging for you that are reading this to please donate.
it's doesn't matter how small or big your donation is as both Buddy and I will appretiate every little bit that comes in because it will all adds up and the more people donate the sooner he goes in for his surgery, So please, please Donate
